ABOUT THE BOOK

On chunky machines, any designs with blocks of slipped stitches would have large floats and be impractical.

This book explores possibilities of using slip stitch patterns on these machines, using just one or two slipped stiches.

There are 30 punchcard designs (which can of course also be used on electronic and standard gauge machines), created within the restrictions of the 24 st punchcard, with many ways to use them.

Over 100 knitted samples are shown, with many more possibilities, especially if you have a colour changer for your standard gauge machine, which would make changing colours more often, less of a chore.

The book includes detailed knitting tips and advice for how to create garments from these designs.

Also included are instructions for drafting your own garment diagrams, for use on your charting device (or by using calculations), for dropped shoulder, varieties of raglan and dolman/batwing sweaters, cardigans and hoodies, from the measurements of your subjects. I have included a chart of standard children's sizes as a guide.

There are 8 example garments, with information about how they were created.

EQUIPMENT

The designs in this book were created for chunky punchcard machines (I used my Brother KH260), but of course they can also be used on standard gauge or electronic machines.
