Your starting point for most designs is your own standard basic pattern.

If you don't have one, you could copy one from a shop bought garment that you like the fit of, or look in pattern books for a diagram to use.

However if you would like to make your own personalised basic pattern

and I will give you full instructions on how to create your basic pattern from your own individual measurements.
Plus how to how to make and measure tension pieces and how tocalculate and create your neckbands and button/hole bands with your knitleader. Also included are instructions for a mock triple roll edging and a rib front band that alleviates edge roll.
I have also included how to calculate and create a pattern for your garment if you don't have a charting device or pattern creating software.
